I was going to wait to post these in case my mom ever checks my blog but since the odds of that are slim to none... here are some of my favorites from our photo shoot. (mom if you look, act surprised anyways!!) OK so I have a lot of favorites!!

Brothers

My friends Sarah took these pictures and I love them because they show the friendship my boys have with each other. They truly are friends, even though they do not always get along. I am grateful that they have each other to grow up with. To share, to fight, to learn from each other. I hope that they will find strength and support from each other in the years to come. Hopefully that is not too much to ask!

The Derby

This past Saturday was our wards 2ND annual Hot Dog and Rod Race (Pine Wood Derby). The boys were very excited. They had great expectations because last year Tyler's car came in 2ND overall. This year the hopes fell flat as all three cars were eliminated in the first round. However, all was restored at the final awards ceremony when Alex's car won for the "Most Unusual". He was thrilled as he had hand painted his car with watercolors and was very, very proud of it.

Pumpkin Pie Memories

I love to bake and I have great memories of spending Sundays afternoons with my dad making pies and cakes and cookies. I was the youngest in my family and I do not know if he did this with everyone or if I was just the lucky one. But the other day when I started making a pumpkin pie Tyler came to help me and it just brought memories back of helping my dad. Tyler and I had such a great time. It was messy but we had lots of fun. And the pie was terrific.

Now I may be bias but I think my kids are adorable. My good friend Sarah is starting up a photography business. She needed a couple of models and I was very happy to lend her 3. Day at the Beach

Saturday started off to be a miserable yucky day but it turned out to be wonderful. We took the chance before it started raining again to go to one of our favorite beaches. I think it is a favorite because it is so close. This time was fun because we had Pop and Grandma Johnston with us. The boys had a wonderful time and were very upset with us when we pulled over on the way home to discard half of their rocks, shells and sticks that they had crammed into their pockets. Who knew a boy could fit so much in one jeans pocket. It is endless in there.

Kids keep us humble

I am listening to my son and his friend talk about their moms. I am the best mom ever but apparently I forget a lot of things. "But moms are like that" says Alex. I wonder what I am forgetting?

Pajama Day

So I think we need more days where we can just stay in our pj's all day. Tyler and his good friend have the right idea. They spent the whole morning turning my staircase into a waterfall.

Tyler came with me today to run a couple of errands we were all done and I turned to him and asked if he was ready to go home. "Not yet" so I asked him where he wanted to go. "Well mom, I still have one spot left in my tummy for ice cream".

Quote of the Day

"You know mom if you lose weight you 'sometimes' get lighter" proclaimed Jared. Now I don't know if this was a gentle hint or just the great wisdom of a 7 year old. But it made me laugh.
