Lake Padden

Contrary to popular belief I do not purposely try to look like a dork wearing a full body neoprene suit. But if I could find a wetsuit with a superman logo on the front side I would definitely be buying it. (thanks aspen)

Russ and I got our hats handed to us at the Lake Padden Triathlon last week. I finished 18th out of 25 with a time of 2:05:45. That's pathetic!

The guy who won the race was in my age group and finished in 1 hour 33 minutes. Which means he ran about a 5.5 minute mile and biked about 24mph and did a roughly 1:15/100meter swim. That is world class!! I can't do any of things on their own let alone combine them in a triathlon.

Oh well, at least I didn't get passed by fat chicks, old codgers, break any toes or suffer debilitating injuries during the race (it has been known to happen). I did drop my sunglasses on the last turn after hitting a bump in the road but Linda wasn't too upset to see the $4.00 yellow construction OSHA approved safety glasses go by the wayside.

I didn't pay attention to my fluids consumption during the bike and ended up with severe post race dehydration later that afternoon. I would rather listen to my neighbors puny little rat dogs yap at 5:00 in the morning than deal with the cramps, headaches, sweating, hot flashes etc that goes along with severe dehydration. It is not a lot of fun to be so dehydrated that it makes you sick to drink water. Note to self, when you bring two bottles on the bike leg and plan to drink both, DO IT.

I have caught myself staring at the Coeur d'Alene full distance Ironman race 2010 registration this last week. About the only thing holding me back is the $550 registration fee. Linda says it would be more fun to sign up for Ironman New Zealand.

Anybody interested in a casual workout this week? The schedule has about 75 miles of biking, 3 miles of swimming and about 20 miles of running. The race events are fun and the training is therapeutic but it is the fans that make it worthwhile. Check out the video.

what happened to the rest of team banana? we've got to come up with some new motivating techniques to get the others back out - maybe cowbells to wake them up for training runs/rides at 0530?

Impressive! I feel pretty good if I make it the 3 miles around my neighborhood. You rock! If it counts, my vote it for the race in New Zealand. At least when you die I would be in one of the most beautiful places on earth.LOL
