Greatest inventions ever

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a married man in his mid thirties must be in want of electronic gadgetry.

I must admit that I fulfill my cravings for electronic gadgetry by purchasing them for Linda. What that really means is I bought an I-Phone for Linda last fall but I haven't purchased a new television in nearly 8 years, don't have a blu ray, my stereo consists of a set of cheap radio shack headphones and a cell phone, and the battery on my laptop computer wouldn't power up the low battery indicator light if it had too.

But I am convinced that the two greatest inventions since fire are the Iphone and Netlfix.

There is nothing more cool than the Iphone. Practically all of my boyhood fantasies of joining the crew of the Star Trek Enterprise are coming true thanks to the Iphone that Linda condescends occasionally to let me use. Enough said on that subject.

Netflix is a close runner up to the Iphone in terms of world altering impacts. For practically next to nothing I can instantly watch classic films ranging from "Them" to "Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie" and Steve Martin in "The Jerk." How cool is that!!

One thing I don't understand though is who comes up with the recommendations. Netflicks has the great little feature that will give you recommendations for movies to watch based on the movies that you have previously watched. Unfortunately it doesn't really work.

I get on Netflix this evening to watch another in the series of Agatha Christie Miss Marple mysteries starring Joan Hickson and get a recommendation for

"BELLA" the story of "Two lost souls -- Nina (Tammy Blanchard), a pregnant, unmarried waitress, and Jose (Eduardo Verástegui), an introspective cook with a tragic past -- find solace in each other as their lives become unpredictably linked throughout the course of one incredible day. First-time director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde also co-wrote the screenplay for this inspirational story about love, hope and forgiveness."

Netflix then proceeds to tell me that the basis for this recommendation is my interest in:

"Jonah: A veggie Tales Movie" which is the story of Jonah from the old testament portrayed by a cucumber, a stalk of celery, a caterpillar, various sundry vegetables and gourds and cheese curls.

I laughed.

Bella is basically a Christian Anti Abortion movie and Vegitales is a Christian...vegi movie. So yeah, that's why it was suggested.

(Don't waste your time with the Bella movie)
