It has been two weeks since the 4th on July but I am finally getting around to blogging about it. The 4th of July in the Northwest is not for the faint of heart. You have to be made of some pretty sturdy stuff to pull out your summer gear and have a BBQ but that is just what we did. The Places, Werslands, Torgeson's, Rays, and McConnaghy's were all willing to come over and pretend that summer had arrived. We had a fantastic barbaque. Tons of food. I think we all managed to stuff ourselves. The kids all played and ran around outside. They played a rousing game of soccer where the girls caused more than one boy to break into tears. Way to go girls! We talked and ate while we waited for evening to fall. Then we parted for of various destinations to watch the fireworks. After grabbing my goose down coat (seriously the first time I have worn it this whole year) we joined with Werslands and McConnaghy's where we engaged in a fierce battle of with the neighbors. We won. Just before midnight Alex was begging me to take him home. All in all even with the brisk temperatures we had a fabulous Independence Day!
