Snow Days

We woke up to see that about 6 inches of snow fell over night. And in this small Northwest town that means everything shuts down.  School= cancelled, doctors appointments = cancelled. So the kids and I settled in for a nice day at home.

Now I do think snow is beautiful and all. Pretty blueness (yes, I know blueness is not a word) but all in all, I don't like the snow. I have a tendency to slip and fall. So when it snows I comfort myself with baking. So of course I made muffins for breakfast.  And these aren't you fiber friendly diet muffins. NO NO NO.  You whip up a nice nutmeg muffin, than you take 2 sticks of butter, soak the muffin in the butter til its totally covered, then roll it in cinnamon and sugar. Yes! They are so so so good! Quote "These are better than donuts!" high praise in this house.

Jared was already out for the day. So he choose to eat his muffins on the front porch!
Where Jared was out in the snow by 8:00 a.m. The other boys like to take things  a little slower and were very content to play LEGOS for hours.

The princess wasn't all that thrilled with the snow last time. So I had a moment  of brilliance and remembered my preschool teacher days. I filled a flat plastic storage container with snow and let her discover the nice cold wet stuff at her own pace in our nice warm and cozy house. She played in the snow for over an hour.
I couldn't help myself. Look at those toes. She's a natural!
She is such a toddler scratches on her face from falling off the bleachers at the pool and gross stuff coming out of her eye. But she is still cute!
OK so the big boys loved my inside snow too.
Spring still trying to break through! Pretty!
More pictures to come if I can get blogger to let me load more pictures.

Love the post and especially the tippy toes. Great idea on the snow in the tub. I'll have to use that one on Paisley. Maybe tomorrow while George is at the Hot Dog and Rods.

YEs, send the muffin recipe, I just gained 10 pounds just looking at them, and at first, I thought they were donuts!

Hey! I love your pictures! I can't believe all that snow, wow! And those ballerina toes - yeah I think she got some of your skills! Great idea on the indoor snow! James and Ashley were lamenting a while back and wondering if they would EVER see snow. It looks like a winter wonderland. : )
