Actually its been hard for me to focus up close and blur the background.

Working on. It's hard. Think of those pictures of Christmas Trees where the lights are all "blurry" but not because its a bad picture but because it was suppose to look like that. OK bad discription. Look it up. Better discription is the thing in front is in focus the back (lights) are out of focus.
