with the new year we started a new time for church

I'm trying to look on the bright side of 1:00

sleeping in is a definite plus

we were all actually ready when Eric has to leave to begin prelude

I even managed a family photo which we will call successful because  

no one is crying

no one is hitting anyone else

there is a general look of happiness about the picture

and they are looking enough at the camera to tell who everyone is!!

Jared has started playing Middle School Basketball
he made the JV team
and is loving it
he really seems to love basketball
he has worked harder at this sport than any
he has tried soccer, baseball and swimming which he was very natural good at
but with basketball he takes time on his own to practice and try and improve
I am really proud of him!

I bought myself a chalkboard
I've wanted one for 4 years
I keep telling  myself I'd make one
yeah that didn't seem to be happening
I wrote a nice New Year's quote
"Write it on your Heart that everyday is the best day in the year" Ralph Waldo Emerson
apparently someone thought it could be improved upon by coloring!

With school being closed the last day before break the boys missed a few things at school
so this is my late Christmas present by Tyler
Oh you have to love school art projects!
I know have 19 similar creations!

Ah George
He has always had a talent for finding the my comfortable spot in the room
he has actually been know to rearrange a blanket or knock pillows off the couch

So thankful for Costco flowers
Especially during the winter months
I buy myself flowers
they brighten my day

Grace picked these ones out for me
they had the most purple

The boys all went to the High School basketball game
Grace didn't want to go 
so as difficult as it was
I volunteered to stay home with her
I know, I know very big of me!
so...
we decided it would be way more fun to play games, watch a movie and use the last of the Christmas candy and make cookies

 yeah that looks way better than a basketball game!

OK don't laugh
I had to buy these
other than being a beautiful rainbow they have a very special purpose
we haven't had a working dishwasher since last May (that's another story)
and every time someone wants a sip of water
they get a new glass
so by the end of the day I have 50 cups and jam jars (also another story)
so I bought these!
everyone got to choose a color
and that's your glass
use it! wash it! repeat!!!

and a week later I'm still happy with our new system!!

I am getting very excited
I think I have collected enough vintage sheet fabric for my project

I'm starting with a lap quilt
I actually want a queen size quilt for my bed (made with from the vintage fabric) but I will have to work up to that

 I love Pinterest and Youtube they are full of ideas and instructions on how to make quilts

with the one I made Grace I just kind of made it up as I went along
which worked out OK
but I think I'd like to really learn

in my efforts to take more pictures of Eric and I
