First days of summer

WARNING: Extreme amounts of pictures

We have been doing our best around here to stay busy and out of trouble. We have no vacations planned and no summer camps ahead so it is just mom against 4 all day everyday. WOW I don't like those odds. But mom has plans.

OK I love this. They bought new kites on Wednesday for Cub Scout Kite Derby. On Thursday they had the very brilliant idea to attach them to their bikes and see what happened.

 They first tried to have 1 ride ahead and the other launch from behind. Ending in tangled mess.

 After untangling the kite from the bike...

 "Lets try you running behind me!"

 Run faster!!!

 I love the progression of pictures. They did manage to briefly get the kite up, too briefly I didn't manage to get a picture. And the kites are all totaled.

Adventures
Friday we packed a lunch and loaded up the suburban and headed toward our first beach of the season. Bowman Bay!
We have decided to rate the local beaches and get to as many this summer as possible. Now the term "beach" may for some, bring up images of lounging in the sand for hours soaking up the sun. 

Not so here in the Northwest. We are made of tougher stuff. We take our jackets everywhere we go and a prayer in our heart that we wont need them, but we usually do.

So back to Bowman Bay which receives an 8 on our very sophisticated scale. First it has a play ground. Always a plus!

 This little girl stole my Cheetos

 It has lots of Bald Eagle flying overhead

 It does had a mixture of sand and rock on the beach

 A cool dock to walk out over the water

 Huge wild rhododendrons

 And lots of trails to hike on!

 And since Bowman Bay is practically in Anacortes anyways we stopped at the Donut House!!

Great start to summer. 1 week down 12 more to go!
