Berries berries berries!!!

the island has the best strawberries

it is a fact!

they are beautful! 

we wait all year for them 

they last about a month 

Jared had a paying job for 4 weeks to pick strawberries

the rest of us went for fun!

Alex was a fabulous picker this year

Grace said "Mom, I shouldn't pick I just have to eat them!"

at least she is honest

I dont think she put a single berry in the basket

Tyler was an excellent supervisor 

oh look 

maybe she did put one in

its fun living in such a small community because we saw friends there too

Between the 4 of us we picked 24 and 3 quarter pounds

we came home ate a few bowls full

and froze some 

but mostly we made freezer jam

jars washed and prepared

Grace was worried because I was using all her favorite drinking glassed 

sorting berries

wash them
oh yummy

smash them

 measure them

 smile for the camera please

add sugar

stir

cooking the pectin

put into jars

then label them

repeat several more times!!

Alex became a pro
he helped me with each and every batch

 she loves to have her turn and loudly insists that she gets it

he really was happier than this picture looks!
we turned up the tunes really loud 
and worked worked worked!
it was awesome!

we made nearly 70 
1/2 pint jars of strawberry jam
and 10 jars of raspberry 
and at the rate we are devouring it 
it will all be gone by Halloween
but we will enjoy it while we got it!
