Well we apparently aren't great planners.
Sunday night we decided we needed to have a BBQ.
So we called some friends who apparently aren't great planners either, well at least no one had plans.
Maybe that's not the same thing.
Anyways.
We ended up having a great 4th of July BBQ.
We had 30+ people.
Way too much great food.
I took a lot of pictures but because I want my friends to still speak to me again I am leaving them off the blog.
Really they weren't good of any of us :(
But pictures of our kids are always good!
Elizabeth wasn't very cooperative with taking a picture of her cute flag skirt.
This is the best of the group shots.
But George looked cool!
My kids favorite part of the BBQ.
I made a great cake which I forgot to take a picture of before we ate it. But you get the idea right?
Don't be embarrassed if you didn't notice the flag.
Others didn't.
As the sun set the Johnston boys geared up with their layers of sweatshirts and winter coats.
Not a joke.
And rode their bikes to City Beach to watch the fireworks over the water!
Elizabeth was happy to go to bed.
And I could see the big fireworks from my bathroom window.
All nice an warm!
Once the boys were home from the big show they were all excited, especially the big one, to blow up their own fireworks!
My pictures didn't turn out well.
They all look like ghosts.
And I missed all the colors of the fireworks.
Oh well.
By next year I'll have figured out how to take cool night time pictures!
I hope everyone had a great Independence day!
My family was so tired the next morning they all slept in past 10:00a.m.
I could get use to that!

What a great day!! I love all the commentary. :)
It was cool for us too...I told Greg I've never not been hot on July 4th. Granted, we were not outfitted in cold weather garb....
